Check & control
Keep what arrived with what was ordered.
Ordered and received quantities are not always the same. Goods receipt records what arrived in its purchase context, providing a reference for the work that follows.
Record the receipt against the order.
Keep the relevant PO context with the receipt so teams can compare material received with what was ordered.
Make differences visible.
For example, 100 units ordered and 96 received leave a difference for review. This is an illustrative example, not a customer result.
Carry the receipt into later checks.
Quality and invoice records relate to the receipt. Keep them connected without treating receipt as automatic quality acceptance or payment approval.
Questions
Does recording a receipt approve the invoice?
No. Receipt, quality review, invoice checks and payment are distinct responsibilities.
Does a short receipt automatically reject the delivery?
Automatic rejection is not promised. The difference provides context for review.
